Student Support Services
Student Support Center
One of the areas of growth that we identified as a school was the need for a Student Support Center. While we have many efforts in place already for struggling students, (office hours for teachers, extra help opportunities, Homework Room, NHS tutoring, etc.), we want to increase student support offerings during the school day itself.
David Lemke and Ruthann August, two experienced LHS teachers, have taken on the roles as teachers in our Student Support Center. While they will support students on various fronts, the focus will be on Math and ELA/Reading support.
Our Child Study Team, which includes school counselors, social workers, and administrators, will identify students in need of support and will work with students and families to repurpose certain ICE Blocks in order to access this support. Some students will only need short-term support and others may need this for a longer period of time. Either way, this will be a major addition and improvement to the way we support students in their learning and we are excited about this new program and effort.
