We have designed and developed a program specifically for Longmeadow High students with the Barcelona Study Abroad Experience (SAE), a Spanish company with an office in Northampton, MA.
In July of 2016, we are hoping to pilot a three-week study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain. The program will run from July 3-24, 2016 and will be open to all students in grades 9-12. We will hold the next information session on TUESDAYSEPTEMBER 29, at 6:30 PM in Seminar A at the high school.

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

I am writing to remind you about a unique program and a wonderful opportunity for Longmeadow students. In July of 2016, we are hoping to pilot a three-week study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain. We will hold the next information session onTUESDAYSEPTEMBER 29, at 6:30 PM in Seminar A at the high school.

As we are always trying to meet the needs of our students, we are asking you to take a few minutes (four questions) to complete an online survey, whether your interest in the program is high or otherwise. Your feedback is valuable to us. If you are familiar with the details of the program, take the survey now. If not, read the rest of this email, then return to the survey link.

The program will run from July 3-24, 2016 and will be open to all students in grades 9-12. We have designed and developed this program specifically for Longmeadow High students with Barcelona Study Abroad Experience (SAE), a Spanish company with an office in Northampton, MA.

The highlights of the program include:
  • Intensive Spanish language classes (total of 40 hours) for all proficiency levels, taught by native speakers (as it is a pilot program, we will not be issuing LHS academic credit).
  • Practical enrichment courses taught by veteran Longmeadow High English teachers, Mark Cormier and Jessica Moore. These courses will be designed for the students who are enrolled in the program and could include SAT preparation, college essay writing, or learning how to read texts critically.
  • Cultural enrichment courses such as photography, salsa and flamenco dancing taught by Barcelona SAE faculty.
  • Safe and clean lodging at a Barcelona hotel for the duration of the program
  • An all-inclusive cost of $6995, which includes round-trip airfare, lodging, all meals, all coursework, travel in-country which will include three day trips and a weekend trip to Valencia
  • A fundraising and payment plan over the course of the next year.
It will be an exciting and purposeful three weeks for students. We understand that you may have other questions, so please feel free to contact Mark Cormier (mcormier@longmeadow.k12.ma.us) or Jessica Moore (jmoore@longmeadow.k12.ma.us) or visit the program's website for more information and a detailed itinerary:
