Underage Drinking in Longmeadow. Monday, April 10th at 7:00pm at Longmeadow High School Auditorium Sponsored by Longmeadow Police Department and Public Schools. Local trends, police protocols, tips from parents, talking points.Highly recommended for middle and high school parents, open to residents and youth  accompanied by an adult.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Two-hour delay -

To ensure the readiness of the roads, sidewalks and parking lots, Longmeadow Public Schools will open following a two-hour delay on Wednesday, March 15.  In the unlikely event that conditions require a full cancellation, you will be notified by 5:30 a.m. Please remember that when we return to school on Wednesday, it will be a Day 2, followed by Thursday, which will be a Day 4 as originally scheduled.

Snow Day #3 -

Due to the Blizzard Warning issued by the National Weather Service, Longmeadow Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14.  All school and district offices will be closed as well.

Beginning Thursday evening through Monday, March 20th, you will need to log into the PowerSchool Public Portal to enter your course requests.  For instructions on entering your requests, please go to the LHS website > Guidance page > Educational Opportunities > Course Selection Instructions.  This cannot be completed on the PowerSchool mobile app.

Professional Development Reminder & LHS Athletics

LHS students will be dismissed tomorrow at 10:45 AM and Friday is a full PD Day for teachers and staff - there is no school for students. 

Good luck to our athletic teams that will be competing in the playoffs over the next few days.  Tomorrow night our Boys Hockey Team plays for the Western MA championship at the Olympia in West Springfield at 8:30. Our Girls Hockey Team plays in the MA State quarterfinals on Saturday at 3:15 at the Gallo Arena in Buzzards Bay, MA. Our Boys Basketball Team plays for the Western MA championship at the Curry Hicks Gymnasium at UMASS at 7:30.  Good luck to all of our teams.

All students have been reminded by Athletic Director Capotosto that Spring sports registration ends this Friday, March 10th.  Student athletes who plan on playing this Spring and haven't registered yet should see Mr. Capotosto tomorrow during school.

LHS Poetry Out Loud -

Please support Bridget Olsen, the winner of the LHS Poetry Out Loud contest. She will perform Sunday, March 5, 10 AM, at the Springfield Communty Music School of Springfield, 127 State Street. This is the regional Poetry Out Loud Competition.

School Climate Survey -

Longmeadow High School will be conducting its School Climate Survey this spring, in compliance with the anti-bullying legislation in Massachusetts.  Students will be surveyed during PE and Health classes.  We have included questions on a range of health issues to better inform our prevention programming and health curriculum.  Student completion of the survey is voluntary and completely anonymous.  If you wish for your child to NOT participate in this survey, please notify Shelly Warren by March  "

LHS Medical Club hosts guest speaker -

Dr. Donald Schwartz is an anesthesiologist in Springfield, Massachusetts and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Baystate Franklin Medical Center and Baystate Mary Lane Hospital. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Longmeadow Schools Special Programs invites all parents to hear Jessica Lahey speak on "The Gift of Failure:  How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed," Tuesday, March 7th at 7pm in the LHS Auditorium.  Book signing and discussion facilitated by Superintendent O'Shea will take place immediately afterward.  Hope you can join us!
